Organizations include Ceres Project, Canine Companions, North Bay Science Challenge, Habitat for Humanity, Sebastopol Senior Center, West County School Nurses (Vison & Hearing Testing), Excite Instruction, Redwood Empire Food Bank, Sebastopol Community Center and Shoe 4 Kidz.
Lions will provide info on local programs such as eyeglasses collection, vision tests, purchase of eyeglasses for youth and older persons in need, scholarships, “chain gang” at Analy High football games, art & social study assistance at Guerneville and Forestville elementary schools, student speaker contests, Little Leagues, handicap ramp construction, construction of picnic tables and BBQs at Ragle Park, assistance on Christmas dinners, etc.
Gravenstein Lions raise funds for their many projects/programs by selling “safe & sane” fireworks in Sebastopol around Independence Day. In 2015 the Lions donated $15,000 to 21 organizations, some of which will be at the BIG 40 Celebration.
Refreshments will be served by the Teen Chefs of the Ceres Project and the Analy High School Culinary Boot Camp. This is a free to the public, non-alcoholic event.
