t is 79 AD and people in Pompeii are going about their daily activities in ways that are similar to what we do today…..but, their lives will be cut short by one of the greatest natural disasters in history, the eruption of Mount Vesuvius. Almost 2000 years later, the archeological remains of buildings, furniture, decorative objects, pots and pans, dishes, and foods give us a window into their lives and tell us of their fascination with food and wine. Please join Carol Porter, a docent at the Fine Arts Museums of San Francisco to learn more about what the Pompeiians ate, how they shopped, cooked, and how they dined.
