Occidental Art & Ecology Center - Organic Nursery Open
The organic nursery at the Occidental Arts and Ecology Center will be open to the public every weekend from September 6 through November 2, from 10 am to 5 pm- offering a wide selection of organically grown perennial food crops, culinary and medicinal herbs and ornamentals, including many Salvias. Recently OAEC built a brand-new nursery which has allowed us to greatly expand our offerings to the public. We are one of the very few nurseries in the Bay Area that is completely California Certified Organic (CCOF) including all of our ornamentals. Our stock has been grown onsite from open-pollinated seeds or rooted cuttings from our mother plants. Many of these plants can be viewed growing in the gardens during our public tours. We guarantee the health of our plants and assure a high quality of care from inception to point of sale. When you buy our California Certified perennials you are also supporting our heirloom seed collection and all of the sustainability programs at Occidental Arts and Ecology Center. All of our potting mixes, amendments and foliar sprays are also Certified Organic. We use “Envirostake” pot tags, which are curbside recyclable and degradable in landfills. In addition, whenever possible, we use pots which have been returned to us. OAEC will continue holding its three annual Plant Sales, which feature seasonally appropriate annual vegetables, flowers and herbs, but will now be open to continue offering perennials which can be planted throughout the year. Perennials will be offered primarily in gallon pots.
